New Cartilage Piercing! [And A Note]

I randomly got that itch to get a new piercing or tattoo recently, and today I followed through.  I went with something much less permanent than a new tattoo (although let's be honest -- when has that ever stopped me before?) and got my other ear's cartilage pierced!

I already have double lobe piercings in each ear, and my right ear has double cartilage piercings with diamond studs (both are 16g).  I've been thinking about getting my other ear done for a while, so it was a perfect opportunity.

It is fate that I pass a tattoo and piercing shop every day from the bus stop to my apartment.  Fate.

I ended up going with a 16g horseshoe barbell and I couldn't be happier (for now).  Eventually I want to switch it out with a 16g gold hoop, but I can't do that for a few months (until the piercing is completely healed -- usually around 3 months).

My piercing tally is up to 9 now.. which still doesn't surpass my 11 tattoos, but it's getting close!

I get asked about my body mod/law school combination quite often.  Some people, especially in older generations, may find my style to be very unprofessional, but I honestly feel like societal opinions have changed on tattoos and piercings in the workplace.  Many attorneys now have plenty of tattoos and piercings and are still very successful.  I know eventually I might not want to rock the monroe or nose hoop anymore, but for now I'm pretty content with my decisions and my appearance.  To the people that find me unfit for the legal career, go ahead and judge me!

Moral of the story: don't let others negatively influence your personal style.  Sure, you have to be rational about the choices you make [please.. no neck/face tattoos!], but DO WHAT YOU WANT!  It's your body, it's your life.  As long as you are tasteful, tactful, and respectful of what you do to/put on your body.. go cray cray :]
