Beauty Haul!

God I honestly don't think I can walk past a Sephora without walking into it.

And I rarely leave empty handed.

I'm still riding out my Sephora VIB Rouge 15% off sale til April 11th, so I'm taking advantage of it and stocking up on some essentials.  I may go back and buy some fun, new products (I've been eyeing some new blushes and lipsticks), but I'll have to check my bank account..

1]  Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Stingray Jet Black ($20)

I'm not gonna lie.. twist-up retractable eyeliners can be a godsend.  When I'm rushing in the morning to get my makeup done before class, I don't have time to sit there and sharpen a pencil before I use it.  And since I'm a pretty loyal Stila customer, I decided to try out their waterproof eyeliner.

I must say, I LOVE IT. I love it.  It's one of the creamiest eyeliners I've used.  Look at that color payoff!  It is opaque as all hell, buttery, and draws incredibly smoothly.

For comparison purposes, I swatched it against two other waterproof eyeliners I had on hand.  On the left is Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Matte Black 0L ($19), center is the Stila Smudge Stick, and on the right is my go-to Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in Classic Black 01 ($13).

Surprisingly to me, the Makeup Forever liner seemed the weakest out of the bunch!  I'll definitely be using the Stila for the next couple of days to see how I like it.  (I might do a makeup tutorial using it, because I already have a great makeup look in mind!)

Since they're all "waterproof" I washed my hands, with soap, to see what was left of the swatches post-wash.  This is the result!

2] Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel in Clear ($22)

I don't know any brow product that I'm more faithful to than this.  It seriously changes your brows.  Even if you don't have time to fill in or draw on, just a few swipes of brow gel can make a world of a difference.

This is definitely a tried-and-true product for me, and I've gone through two tubes already in the past few months.  A miracle worker.

3]  Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 ($22.50)

OKAY, okay.  I know.  This is a little outrageously priced, even for me.  You might be thinking, $22.50 for a goddamn lip balm?  June, no.  But it's one of the best lip treatments I've ever used.

I use Fresh's Sugar Lip Polish ($22.50) when my lips are in need of a good scrubbing and exfoliating (which is surprisingly often).  Talk about a product getting shit done.  It's an amazing lip scrub, and this is an amazing lip treatment that you can wear every day.

The SPF 15 is a great added bonus to this product [yes -- you even need to protect your lips from the sun.. they ARE covered in skin, right?].  It's a perfect every-day-balm, and a great primer under your favorite lipsticks.

4] Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil - Light ($48)

YES.  That's right.  $48.  If you have skin on your face, it'll be the best $48 you'll ever spend.  This is one of my secret weapon skincare products.  With all modesty, I generally have very clear skin.  BUT I suffer from some of the naturally oiliest skin you'll ever see!

This Josie Maran oil is a god send.  (I also have the regular 100% Argan Oil, but I do prefer the light version.)  Most people aren't aware that the best way to combat oily skin is.. oil.  Adding more oil to the face is the opposite of what you'd think to do, but it makes total sense when you think about it: Stripping all the natural oils from your face in order to appear matte and oil-free is going to send your face's oil glands into HYPER overdrive!!  If you remove all the natural oils, the body is going to OVER produce oil to make up for the oils it thinks it is lacking.  So by adding (the amazing) argan oil to your face at night before bed, your body will think there's plenty of oil to go around, and won't produce as much oil naturally.

I never, ever use "oil-free" products.

5] First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish ($24)

Lo and behold one of the biggest cult-followed skincare brands ever!  First Aid Beauty has an enormous fan base, and for good reason.  Exfoliating is an essential step to skin care, and a lot of people just skip it.  Don't!!

If you just wash your face and don't exfoliate it, sure, you skin will be "clean."  But unless you remove the top layers of grime and dead skin, bacteria will get caught in your facial pores and fester in there til it becomes blackheads or whiteheads (or just large-looking pores.. equally as unappealing!).  Even if you exfoliate once a week in the shower, you'll be doing your skin a huge favor!

If I end up going back to Sephora to pick up more fun makeup products, you know I'll post about it!
