(From Day to) Night Makeup Tutorial!

I haven't done a tutorial in a while, so I figured what the heck! It was a nice break from the monotony of my homework and studying.

This is the extremely minimalist daytime makeup I wore today --

My skin could not be any shiner; I am disgusted and I am sorry

-- And here is what I turned it into with a few easy steps!

Yes.. I am an Asian with freckles..

Tutorial after the jump!

Products Used:

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette ($28)

NARS Single Eye Shadows in "Coconut Grove" and "Fez" ($25 each)

Sephora Collection Pro Blending Brush #27 ($20)

Sephora Collection Classic Blending Eye Shadow Brush #71 ($16)

Sephora Collection Pro Precision Smudging Brush #29 ($18)

Sephora Collection Classic Precision Powder Shadow Brush #61 ($13)

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($20)

How To:

1.  I started off my look with a basic, barely-there makeup look.  [Under a primed eyelid using NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($25)] A sweep of Urban Decay "Naked 2" eyeshadow over my entire eyelid, using my Sephora Brush #27, and a few coats of Urban Decay Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara ($20) is all it takes for a clean and simple look.  I used my Sephora Brush #29 and LIGHTLY smudged in NARS "Fez" on my lower lash line.

2.  Using Sephora Brush #71, concentrate Urban Decay "Faint" on the outer-half of your eyelid. (Faint is a matte, true taupe color.  It's perfect for using as a base to any smokey eye.)

3.  Using the same brush, blend the color out.

4.  With Sephora Brush #61, carefully apply NARS "Coconut Grove" to the outer-third of your eyelid.  (Coconut Grove is a beautiful, very pigmented, matte chocolatey brown color. It tends to read on the cooler side.  I love using this shade over black/brown eyeliner to smoke it out, or in the outer corner of my eye for some depth to any dark eyeshadow look.)

5.  Blend that color out using Sephora Brush #71

It should look something like this

6.  [Tip: You can easily stop after Step 5 and wear just a lovely eyeshadow look!]  Using Stila liquid liner, carefully draw a line on your lid -- depending on the preferred thickness.  [Keep in mind, as always, I have a monolid.. so my liner will look much thicker on a lot of eyes.]

7.  Fill in the line to your lashline (and line your waterline if you want), and extend the wing towards the tip of your eyebrow until right about where the eyeshadow color ends.

I dunno what the tail of my eyebrow decided to do today..

The liner looks like this with an open eye

8.  [TIP:  You can also totally stop the look here!  But if you want to add a little extra shimmer..] Apply NARS "Fez" to the inner-half of your eyelid using Sephora Brush #61.  ("Fez" is one of the most gorgeous eyeshadows I own.  It's a rich, shimmery light golden brown.  So pigmented and can work in virtually any smokey eye.)

9.  Blenddddd this color out!  Starting in the inner corner and working your way towards the outer corner, blend the shadow using Sephora Brush #27.

Similar, yet shimmer-ier

Voila!  That's it!

And any of these products can be swapped out using similar colors and shades!  The brushes can also be duped -- just remember to use big, fluffy brushes for blending, smaller firmer brushes for more precise color application, and smudging brushes to really get the color dense!
