Kendall Jenner Inspired Fresh Summer Makeup Tutorial

I don't really care what anyone has to say about this, but I have been loving Kendall Jenner lately.  Her style has been flawless, and she's just been overall impressing me.  When I saw her outfit and makeup for the Clippers game she went to a week or so ago, I was floored.  It was perfection.

She's killing it.  She's been killing everything lately.  Once I zoomed in on her makeup, I thought it would be the perfect summery look to recreate for the coming months.  Dewy yet matte skin, simple eyes with fluttery lashes, bold brows, and nude lips.. such a fresh and light look perfect for warm weather.

Kendall obviously has much more hooded eyes than I do, and she has a deep set crease that she plays up a lot with her makeup.  But I recreated this simple look to fit my face, and I think it's such a pretty look you can wear every day.  You can also adjust the application to fit your eye shape and face shape!

Without further ado!  Tutorial after the jump!

Tarte Cosmetics Tartlette Palette Review!

FINALLY.  After seeing it on blogs and channels for so long, I finally got the Tarte Cosmetics Tartlette palette.  It was just so pretty I couldn't resist, and so many people had such good things to say about it.  Why not?

I was really torn between picking up the Tartlette or the Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Palette.  Both looked beautiful, but at the end of the day the Tartlette obviously spoke to me.   Although the Tartlette palette was a little more expensive  ($44 versus $36), it comes with 12 shades, whereas the Too Faced only has 9.  Sold.

The palette itself is honestly a little more cool-toned in person than on the website -- but you can't really expect the colors to be spot on when you're looking at a computer screen.  I'm not disappointed per se, because I still adore all of the shadows.  But I do wish they were just a tad warmer in color.

The packaging itself is pretty, but a little more inexpensive feeling than I had thought it would be.  I thought it would be a nice sturdy metal, but it's a light weight plastic that almost feels like it will break/crack if I drop it.  Nonetheless I still really like this palette!

The shadow formula is not too chalky, but it isn't the butteriest I've ever used.  However, the color payoff is great.  I feel like I need to use a lot less of these shadows than, say, even my MakeUp Geek singles, to achieve the same look.  The first time I used these on my eyes, I was way too heavy handed and ended up having to blend a lot of it out for it to be day time appropriate.  I think that's a great sign of a good quality product.  BTW, these are ALL matte shadows!

[The swatches are, from left to right, as follows:  Free Spirit, Caregiver, Super Mom, Force of Nature, Natural Beauty, Wanderer, Dreamer, Best Friend, Power Player, Multi-Tasker, Bombshell, and Fashionista.]  The names are super cute -- Tarte named the Tartlette palette after all of their "tartlette" fans and followers, so all of the names are characteristics the company believes encompasses all of their cosmetic brand users.  Although a tad kitschy, I think it's super cute.

Obviously these shadows are better worn on top of a primer, but I honestly don't think they're all that bad without one, either.  They end up being a bit chalkier, definitely with more fall out, when they're worn without a primer.  And when swatched over the primer.. omg.  Very creamy and highly pigmented.

My favorite colors are Force of Nature, Free Spirit, and Fashionista.  I'm seriously in love with ALL of the colors, so it's hard to choose.  But I feel like using Free Spirit as an all-over lid color, Free Spirit as a crease/transition shade, and Fashionista as an outer-v and smudgy liner shade, I can create the most beautiful and simple warm smokey eye.  It's as easy and as pigmented as it gets!

Do I recommend?: Yes!
